Where pump prices stand as it lands
The UK average for petrol is 171.9p a litre across 8,123 stations, and diesel averages 198.6p. Of every litre of petrol at the current average, 52.95p is fuel duty and about 28.6p is VAT, with the rest covering the fuel, its delivery and the retailer's margin - the breakdown is updated every week in our UK fuel price index.
