Five charts built from live UK pump prices and the Brent crude market, free to use on any site. Copy one line of HTML and the chart stays current on its own - there is nothing to update and no sign-up.

How it works

Each chart is a self-contained page you drop into your own with an iframe. It brings no scripts, no cookies and no trackers with it, so it will not slow your page down or affect your Core Web Vitals beyond the frame itself. The charts are drawn on our server as plain SVG, which means they still appear for readers who block JavaScript.

Prices come from the Competition and Markets Authority open data scheme, which requires fuel retailers to publish what they are charging and keep it current. We refresh from that feed every five minutes. The historical series uses weekly national averages, and each chart shows its own last-updated time so you can see exactly how fresh the figures are.

Use is free for editorial and commercial sites alike. We ask only that you leave the findpetrol.co.uk credit and the source link in place, which the charts include automatically.

Everything below is self-serve. There is nothing to apply for and nobody to email before you publish.

Are the charts free to use?
Yes, on any site, including commercial ones. There is no licence to sign, no key to request and no limit on page views. We ask only that you leave the findpetrol.co.uk credit and the source link in place, which every chart carries automatically.
Do I need permission before publishing?
No. Copy the code and publish it. You do not need to tell us, and there is nothing to wait for.
Will the numbers change after I publish?
Yes, and that is the point. The chart reads live data each time someone loads your page, so it will not go stale. If you need a figure fixed to a date, quote it in your text as well and cite the date shown on the chart.
Can I use the figures in print, on radio or on TV?
Yes. Credit findpetrol.co.uk in whatever form suits the medium - a spoken credit on air, or "Source: findpetrol.co.uk" in print. Online, please link the credit to findpetrol.co.uk.
What wording should I use for the credit?
Any of "Source: findpetrol.co.uk", "Data: findpetrol.co.uk" or "according to findpetrol.co.uk". If you are showing figures in your own layout rather than embedding a chart, the attribution badge above gives you a credit and a link in one line of HTML.
Where do the prices come from?
The Competition and Markets Authority open data scheme, which obliges fuel retailers to publish their current prices. We read every participating retailer's feed, discard readings that fall outside a plausible range or have gone stale, and average what is left. The historical charts use the UK national average series, and the crude oil line on the fuel vs crude chart is the Brent benchmark, quoted in US dollars from daily market closes rather than the retailer feed. How often is the data updated?
The live charts refresh from the retailer feed every five minutes. The history charts follow the UK national average series, which was one reading a week until July 2026 and has been daily since, and the crude line follows the daily Brent close. Each chart states its own last-updated stamp so you can see exactly how fresh the figures are.
Will the charts slow my page down?
No. Each chart is a self-contained page of a few kilobytes with no JavaScript, no web fonts, no cookies and no tracking. They are drawn on our server as plain SVG, so they still appear for readers who block scripts, and the iframe is lazy-loaded.
Can I get the underlying data as a spreadsheet?
Yes. The UK Fuel Price Index publishes a weekly and monthly national series, each edition downloadable as CSV with a suggested citation.
Why is there no motorway services chart?
Because we cannot prove which sites are motorway service areas. The CMA scheme does not cover the main operators, so identifying them would mean guessing from address text, and that guess is wrong often enough that we will not put our name on it. The supermarket comparison uses the brand field instead, where every site falls into one group or the other with no inference at all.
