Our fuel prices are highly accurate. We pull live data directly from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) open data feeds provided by major UK supermarkets. Additionally, our platform features a community-driven override system. If a price changes at the pump before the API updates, local drivers can submit a real-time correction. Why isn't my local independent petrol station showing?
Currently, the CMA open data scheme is voluntary and primarily adopted by major supermarkets (Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons) and large retailers (BP, Shell, Esso, MFG). Smaller independent stations may not yet have the technical infrastructure to publish their live till data to this network. As the scheme grows, more stations will appear on our map.
How often are the petrol and diesel prices updated?
The official CMA guidelines require participating retailers to update their pricing data within 30 minutes of any change at the till. Our automated backend systems sync with these retailer feeds multiple times a day to ensure the search results you see are as fresh as possible.
How do I report an incorrect fuel price?
We rely on our community to keep prices honest! If you notice a discrepancy:
- Click on the station from the search results to view its full details.
- Locate the "Spot an incorrect price?" tool below the price list.
- Select the fuel type (e.g., Unleaded or Diesel) and enter the exact price you saw at the pump.
- Click Update.
If your submitted price is within a reasonable range of our CMA data, it will go live instantly and receive a "User Verified" badge. If it's a massive price drop, our moderation team will review it first.
Can I search for fuel prices in specific major cities?
Absolutely. We maintain dedicated landing pages for major metropolitan areas where fuel prices can fluctuate wildly depending on the borough. You can instantly check London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds using our quick navigation links.
Is findpetrol.co.uk completely free to use?
Yes, our platform is 100% free for consumers. We believe that transparent pricing data should be accessible to every driver in the UK without paywalls or forced account registrations.
